In a first for BCSWomen in Scotland, we’re honoured to be a part of DataFest 2020. We’re running a joint Fringe event with IBM Code Scotland, a repeat of our previous ‘Python and Pandas’ event, on 10th March, at Bayes Centre, University of Edinburgh.
This hands on workshop introduces Pandas, one of the main Python libraries for manipulating and analysing structured data and one of the first things to learn if you want to get started with data science.
You will learn about:
– Jupyter notebooks
– Pandas data structures
– Transforming and exploring data
– Visualising data
After an introduction to each of the subjects there will be some exercises to practice what you have learned.
Some knowledge of Python would be a ‘nice to have’, but you should be able to follow along without as well. Please bring a laptop as this is a hands-on workshop. We will use IBM Watson Studio to go through the exercises, so there is no need to install anything beforehand.
Doors open at 5.30pm, formal proceedings begin at 6pm, with the workshop finishing at 8.30pm.
BCSWomen Scotland events are open to everyone and built with women in mind. Visit https://bcswomen.bcs.org/scotland-branch/ for more.
