Organize a coffee afternoon and raise a cup to Ada Lovelace on October 11

Ada Lovelace Day is being celebrated on October 11.

If you could get together for a coffee or after work drinks, raise a cup or glass to Ada Lovelace, please do take a photo, and tweet it to #BCSWomenAda

These will be collected by BCSWomen, http://www.bcs.org/category/8630, part of the professional body, BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT http://www.bcs.org/.
BCSWomen would like to collect 200, or better still 2,000 or more photos of groups of women, who work on or use computers, from all parts of the world, all raising a cup to Ada.

Do include your organisations logo or other interesting background, if you wish, behind the well-wishers. Cake or banners welcomed !!

For inspiration take a look at last year’s posts made on the 200th anniversary of Ada’s birth at http://bcswomen.bcs.org/bcswomenada/

Do read about Ada Lovelace on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ada_Lovelace#Commemoration

She died at thirty six on 27th November, 1852 possibly of cancer, but she was an amazing woman. She was the daughter of Lord Byron, the “superstar” of the day, both in looks and talent, but was viewed as “mad, bad and dangerous to know” especially by mothers of marriageable daughters!!.

Please do take part.

If you would like more details, please put BCSWomen Ada in the subject strap line, and email Margaret.ross@solent.ac.uk
